At this year's Volunteer Appreciation Brunch, Mr. John M. Halmi, Jr. was honored with the 2024 Outstanding Volunteer Award.
After retiring as a Vice Principal and science teacher at Warren Hill High School, John has spent nearly every Saturday for over twenty years as a volunteer through the Highlands Project working on County open space and historic preservation projects with young people completing community service hours. He has also helped develop many of the displays for the museum at Bread Lock Park and was faithfully on hand to interpret those displays for visitors over the past two decades. John has also been a reliable volunteer with the Warren County Parks Foundation, assisting with various projects, since that organization was created in 2015 and has served for many years as a member of the Warren County Board of Recreation Commissioners. John's daughter, Jen, and granddaughter, Lilly, accepted the award on his behalf.
