About Mount Rascal Park

Situated on the border of Hackettstown and Independence Township, the 88 acre Mount Rascal Park is mostly wooded and currently offers visitors a little over one mile of marked trails to enjoy (additional trails are being constructed). A component of the Morris Canal Greenway, the park also includes the remains of the Morris Canal and contains the headwaters of Bowers Brook, a tributary to the Musconetcong River which has been designated as a National Wild and Scenic River. The county park also adjoins the 380+ acre Mount Rascal Preserve which is owned and managed by the New Jersey Natural Lands Trust, an independent agency of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). Together, the state and county have preserved a contiguous area of over 468 acres.

Non-Profit Affiliation

Mount Rascal Park is owned by the County of Warren and managed in partnership with the New Jersey Youth Corps, the Warren County Parks Foundation, and the Morris Canal Committee.
